Opportunities and risks in value chain finance discussed with bankers in Central Asia

Between 05 July and 12 July, 2019, the Regional Small Business Programme (RSBP) for Central Asia organised high-level ‘professional knowledge exchange’ workshops on value chain finance for financial institutions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Representatives of different banks in the respective countries discussed key aspects, opportunities and barriers in financing value chains. The events included an introductory presentation by an international expert in the field, Mr. John Yancura, who also moderated the events. The invitation-only events were well received by participants. They emphasised the relevance of the topic as well as the event format, where one can learn about and discuss international practices and how to take their best in applying them in local markets.

As a follow-up from workshops, the RSBP is preparing a publication on value chain finance, which will be soon made available on the RSBP’s Knowledge sharing and exchange platform – www.rsbp-ca.org
